Learn to Row Day (Ages 18+)

Have you ever wanted to try rowing? We are offering you the chance to learn about the sport – in a quick 1.5-hour session that will include: learning the rowing stroke on land (rowing machines and indoor tank room, followed by a short row on the Iowa River. Space is limited and spots goes very quickly.

Wear fitted athletic apparel, sunscreen, and bring a water bottle.  All fitness levels and athletic backgrounds can learn to row.  Come try it out!

Class Dates:

  • Session 1 Saturday, May 30 | 7:30 - 8:30 AM
  • Session 2 Saturday, May 30 | 8:00 - 9:30 AM

"Experience Rowing" - Learn to Row Series (18+)

Join us and experience the sport of rowing in our new program format. 

Day 1 – 3-hour session that will include learning the rowing stroke on land (rowing machines and indoor tank room) followed by a 2-hour row on the Iowa River. 

Days 2 through 5 – Four 1.5-hour sessions on the Iowa River learning and perfecting your rowing stroke!

Wear fitted athletic apparel, sunscreen, and bring a water bottle

Session Dates:

  • Session 1 | Spring Session - CANCELLED
  • Session 2 | Summer Session
    • Sunday, May 31 | 7:00 - 10:00 a.m. (required attendence)
    • Tuesday & Thursdays, June 16-25 | 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.


  • $120 (This fee will go toward the Adult Rowing programming fee if you decide to join)

UI Student Learn to Row

Get out on the Iowa River and learn about the sport of rowing!

Wear fitted athletic apparel, suncreen and bring a water bottle. Lifejackets will be provided.
