A membership to Recreational Services is required to access all recreation facilities on campus, including the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center (CRWC), Field House (FH), Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex (HTRC), and Fitness East (FE). Once you have purchased a membership, you have access to all four Recreational Services' facilities.

To purchase a membership, visit either the CRWC, FH or HTRC with a photo ID. To purchase a sponsored membership, BOTH the sponsor and the person being sponsored need to be present at sign-up. This includes any renewals.

Once inside, most activities are included with the membership including the following:

  • Swimming
  • Fitness
  • Racquetball
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Group Exercise Classes

Beyond access to all recreation facilities on campus, members also receive discounts on the following program registrations:

  • Rowing
  • Tennis Programs and Reduced Court fees
  • Adventure Trips

Recreation Memberships are included in tuition and fees for currently enrolled UI Students. Memberships are available for purchase for everyone else. Membership Categories are Fac/Staff, Retiree/Affiliate, Alumni, and Community. Memberships can be purchased at the CRWC, Field House and HTRC.

University ID’s or Recreational Services issued membership cards must be presented at check-in each time a member accesses a Recreational Services facility. All non-UI student members will have their picture taken when signing up for a membership.

Payment Options

Recreational Services accepts cash, check, or credit card (Mastercard, Visa, or Discover) for all Membership Types. UI Students and Faculty/Staff can also pay by charging to their UBill. Payroll deduction is only available for Faculty/Staff Perpetual memberships.

Membership Code of Conduct

Disruptive behavior, as determined by Recreational Services staff, is not tolerated. Appropriate attire should be worn according to specific activity areas. Failure to adhere to this Code or University policies may result in a patron being removed from a facility/program, termination of their membership and/or expulsion from Recreational Services facilities. Refunds will not be provided.
