Specialized Group Training offers a boutique-style fitness experience at a fraction of the cost ($5 per class!). Each program features science-backed workouts designed to maximize safety, effectiveness, and results. By enrolling, you secure your spot in class and benefit from increased personal attention from your instructor or coach. Your registration includes a commitment to attend two classes per week for six weeks—providing the structure, consistency, and support you need to succeed. Les Mills Limited Edition: Pilates

Magical choreography, hypnotic music, and the latest exercise science. A 45-minute mind-body workout designed to improve strength, mobility, and happiness.

Slow, simple movements tone your abs, glutes, back, and hips. Expert guidance builds technique and control. Modern breathwork creates renewal and bliss.

Traditional Pilates meets the Les Mills experience, leaving you feeling strong, uplifted, and calm.

Les Mills Limited Edition: Shapes

This is the workout you never knew you needed. An invigorating blend of Pilates, barre, and power yoga set to modern beats. With small, controlled movements, you sculpt and strengthen all major muscle groups, improve alignment and increase flexibility. It’s a low impact but intense way to heat up your training.

Tested and refined by a team of physiotherapists, exercise scientists, Pilates purists and fitness pros, LES MILLS SHAPES has been crafted for results.

Just six weeks of LES MILLS SHAPES can lead to a 35% increase in abdominal endurance, a 26% increase in back endurance, and 20% better balance and hip stability.

Les Mills Limited Edition: Strength Development

Specialized Group Training offers a boutique-style fitness experience at a fraction of the cost. Each program features science-backed workouts designed to maximize safety, effectiveness, and results. By enrolling, you secure your spot in class and benefit from increased personal attention from your instructor or coach. Your registration includes a commitment to attend two classes per week for six weeks—providing the structure, consistency, and support you need to succeed. We are confident you’ll enjoy these programs as much as we do.

This is progressive strength training, meaning each workout focuses on a specific training protocol for building strength over 12 different workouts. This ranges from Foundational Strength, to Hypertrophy, to Pure Strength, while the structure and feel is very different to BODYPUMP™.

The music is there to provide great workout tracks without moving to the beat. Instead, Les Mills Strength Development uses Time Under Tension, as well as rep-ranges depending on the prescribed protocol of the workout.

Whether new to lifting or a seasoned pro, Les Mills Strength Development will build muscle, improve technique, and grow your confidence so you can train more powerfully in the studio and on the gym floor.

How to register online:

Payment:

  • Payment must be made at the time of registration online or at the membership desk. 
  • Forms of payment accepted: Cash, Check (made out to The University of Iowa), Credit Card, U-bill (Cash, Check, and U-bill are in-person only).

Refunds, missed classes, and cancellations

  • No refunds will be given 3-days prior to the first class.
  • There are no makeup sessions if a participant must miss a class due to their own scheduling conflicts.
  • If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, participants will be contacted prior to the start of class. 
  • If a cancellation is needed due to extenuating circumstances, the participant will need to speak with the Associate Director of Fitness immediately in order for a refund to be considered.
