Powerlifting is a training style that is rapidly increasing in popularity among women. This style of training has been shown to build muscle, increase mobility, increase lean body mass, and improve the glutes.  In this four-week session, female participants will follow a training program which includes a warm-up, form/technique, and cool down for the three basic power-lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift.  Each lift will be taught specifically from the unique perspective of the female anatomy.  The goal is to improve confidence in the gym at the barbell racks. Accessory exercises and lift variations to improve range of motion and technique will also be included. The session instructor is a female personal trainer with more than 20 years of powerlifting experience.

Over time through poor positioning, repetitive movements, injury, and static positions, tissues become shortened and put our body in imbalanced positions. These imbalances tend to occur at the shoulder, hip, and ankle. Through mobility training, you can achieve optimal positions and range of motion to help improve strength and stability and decrease pain around joints. This class will include soft tissue work, static stretching, stability work, and a full range of motion movements. Equipment used will be bands, foam rollers, golf/tennis balls, mats, and potential for much more. This class is performed at a low intensity which makes it ideal for any age or fitness level to help improve movement. This is also a great addition for avid lifters/fitness-goers or athletes to help achieve optimal positions in order to work more efficiently.

We spend 40 plus years saving up to someday be able to retire, but do we ever consider investing in our health so we can actually enjoy that time?  As we age our metabolism, strength, and freedom of movement decrease, but our everyday habits have a major impact on the rate of that decline. One day your car will die but that doesn't mean we stop changing the oil, invest in your health, and enjoy better health today as well as a long time to come.

Retire Healthy is designed to help you achieve better health, and to approach that goal with the mindset of long-term health. This means focusing on behavior change which requires setting goals, practicing those goals, and reflecting on means for improvement. We will focus on improving your strength, mobility, and everyday habits to consistently move more. The program meets twice a week and is designed to give you purpose in your everyday habits.
