The University of Iowa is located in Iowa City, Iowa, a community of 85,000 people situated on the Iowa River in the eastern part of the state. Like a big city, there is plenty to do and see but with the benefits of small-town living. The University was founded in 1847 and is the state's oldest and largest public university. About Recreational Services 

Recreational Services offers a variety of programs for UI students, faculty/staff and members of the Iowa City community. Program areas include Intramural Sports, Fitness, Outdoor Programs, Tennis, Rowing, Sport Clubs, the Iowa Raptor Project, School of the Wild, and Wildlife Camps. We have four indoor facilities including the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center, Field House, Fitness East, and Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex. We also have several outdoor recreation areas.
