Internship Duration: February 2016 - May 2016

Paid or Unpaid Internship: Unpaid or possibly for credit based on prior approval of career center

Hours per week: Minimum of 10 hours per week

The Internship program in Recreational Services is designed to provide the student with a well-rounded, hands-on educational experience in assisting with the operations of the UI Wildlife Camps Program. 


  • Assist in the development, planning and administration of Wildlife Camps
  • Assist with the design and implementation of Wildlife Camps
  • Assist with instruction of our programs
  • Workshop design and presentation, demonstrating appropriate presentation skills and utilization of handouts and other materials
  • Attendance and participation in Instructor Training Programs
  • Promotion of all Wildlife Camp Programs
  • Provide oversight of and instruction in Wildlife Camp Programs
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Candidate must be working towards a degree in Education, Environmental Sciences or related field
  • Must be in sophomore standing or above (completed at least 12 semester hours of college course work)
  • Have outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Be self-directed and able to take initative 
  • Retain instruction and be able to demonstrate knowledge
  • Be detail oriented


  • Successful completion of Criminal Background Check 
  • Certification of First Aid, CPR/AED or willingness to obtain
  • Complete Bloodborne Pathogens Training
