The Intramural Sports Program at The University of Iowa holds an annual 5K to benefit the Steve Goff Memorial Scholarship Fund. Details about Steve Goff, and information on this event and how to register, can be found below.

Dr. Steve Goff was a professor in the Department of Health, Leisure, and Sports Studies from 1994-1998. He was an outstanding educator and athlete who died of cancer at the age of 43. Steve lived his life by the motto "Life is not a spectator sport." He was always encouraging his students to become involved and participate in activities in which promoted health and well-being.  All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Steve Goff Scholarship fund which will be awarded to an undergraduate student in Leisure Studies at the University of Iowa.

Date: Saturday, October 15, 2016
Start: Walkers - 9:00 AM, Runners - 9:30 AM

Location: Ashton Cross Country Course located just west of the Hawkeye Recreation Fields on Hawkeye Park Road. Please park in the Hawkeye Commuter/Storage Lot. Same course as the 2016 NCAA Regional Cross Country meet!

Register: Beginning September 1, you can register online! Click here to register online! Cost is $25.00. If you register by 11:59 PM on September 29, you will receive a free performance fabric Steve Goff 5K race T-shirt! Online registration closes October 13 but you can still register the day of the race with cash or check. Day of race registration ends at 9:00 AM.

Prizes: There will be four divisions for the run portion of the event. Those divisions will be Men's Intramural, Women's Intramural, Men's Open and Women's Open. The winner in each division will receive a 2016-2017 Intramural Champion T-shirt! We will also be giving away prizes from local sponsors via drawing following the event.

Eligibility: Everyone is eligible to participate! UI Students, Faculty and Staff will be in the Intramural divisions, and anyone else registered will be in the Open divisions.
