Sport Description

The always popular Canoe Battleship is back! As part of the Friday Night Series, this is a fun way to get some fun in with your friends before finals hit. Canoes are comprised of three to four players in the boat at one time, though three participants in the boat are recommended. Each team will also provide its own “Boat Guide.” Teams will compete in the Field House Pool, the final goal, to be the last canoe above water. Each team will be provided with three buckets and one shield to try to sink the other canoes, while trying to keep water out of its own canoe. So get your friends together for a fun and fantastic battle for an Intramural Champion T-shirt!

Important Information

  1. To participate in Intramural Sports, a UI Student, Faculty, Staff or Affiliate must purchase an Intramural Sports Membership. This $20.00/semester membership allows you to participate in almost any Intramural sport/event that semester. There is no cost to register a team, but team members must purchase the Intramural Sports Membership before joining/creating a team. Directions on how to purchase an Intramural Sports Membership can be found here.
  2. Each team is guaranteed participation in at least two heats, however, there will be some wait time for teams between heats.
  3. There is no limit to the size of a team’s roster, though large rosters may make it hard for all members to participate. Each roster is required to have a minimum of four participants to complete registration.
  4. Team captains may add players to the roster up until the event’s scheduled start time.
  5. Before the event, all players must present a valid UI or government-issued photo ID to participate.
  6. Teams must participate with a minimum of three or four players in a canoe, and one serving as a “Boat Guide” who will be positioned in the water to guide the team’s canoe.
  7. Any forfeit/no-show will result in a Forfeit Fine equal to $50.00 charged to the team captain’s U-Bill.
  8. In order to receive Co-Rec points for the Coach’s Corner Intramural Sports Points Championship, teams must have two males and two females signed-in and participating throughout the event.
  9. Each competing organization is allowed only one team entry to accumulate points in the Coach’s Corner Intramural Sports Points Championship, but there is no maximum on the amount of teams that can register for an organization. The top finishing team for each organization will be counted towards the point total. Teams must designate their organization affiliations before the event begins. More information on the Coach’s Corner Intramural Sports Points Championship can be found here.
  10. Want to play but don't have a team? You can join as a Free Agent on IMLeagues.com if you have paid the Intramural Sports Membership Fee, or you can join our Free Agent Group on Facebook to connect with other people looking for more players to form a team. Listing yourself as a Free Agent does not guarantee you will be on a team.
