Snowy Owl Camp | Recreational Services
University of Iowa

Session 1: December 26th - December 28th, 2018.  FULL

Session 2: January 2nd - January 4th, 2019. FULL

Spend your winter break with UI Wildlife Camps exploring, learning, and having fun at Snowy Owl Camp! The theme this year for Snowy Owl Camp is Winter Woodlands. Our games and discussions this year will revolve around this topic. We hope to include the following activities: hiking, tracking, scavenger hunts, raptor (owls specifically) research, winter songbird banding, snowflake & ice study, mammal mapping (squirrels, beavers, foxes and rabbits), shelter construction, fire building and recreational tree climbing. In addition, campers will do the following: rock climb and swim at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, spend time at Macbride Nature Recreation Area and the outside spaces around the Hawkeye Recreation Fields and Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center. Climbing days are the second day of each session and swim days are the third day of each session. Please bring clean tennis shoes for climbing, a swimsuit and towel for the swim days and appropriate clothing for outdoor exploration in winter including boots every day. A lot of new knowledge will be shared and much fun will be had by all who participate in Snowy Owl Camp 2018 - 2019. We are looking forward to our adventures together!

Camps are for first through sixth graders.

Fee: 150 (non-refundable registration fee of $75)
