    • ILEAD: Creating a Comprehensive Leadership Program for Student Staff
      • Presentation by Jason Vlastaras
      • Located in Conference Room E230A
      • With an increased focus on student development, Recreation Services at Iowa State University is launching new programs to engage student staff, starting with ILEAD. This presentation will take you through the creation of a comprehensive leadership program, launching at Iowa State this spring. ILEAD is a 5-week leadership course for student staff, based on the principles of the Relational Leadership Model. Participants will be taken through the
        components of the program, as well as the process used to create, plan and eventually assess ILEAD.
    • Our Outlook on Connect2 and how we Fusion together Symmetry
      • Presentation by Caleb Recker & Chuck Thomas

      • Facility and membership management software systems are a crucial part to efficiently running any recreation facility. The presenters will discuss how the University of Iowa utilizes software such as Microsoft Outlook, Connect2, InnoSoft Fusion, and Symmetry Security Management Systems.
    • Social Media as an Aspiring Campus Recreation Professional Student Track

      • Your social media presence can play a big role in making it or breaking it in the world of Campus Recreation. Learn why social media is important to an aspiring or young recreation professional and how to eff ectively control your online image.

      • NIRSA can be a fickle beast filled with interviews, resumes, cover letters and awkward networking meetings. However, it can also be a beautiful gateway to your future! We will breakdown attending a NIRSA event including the dos and don’ts of how to succeed in NIRSA without really trying!
    • 8 Week Social Media Wellness Challenge
      • Presentation by Andy Milton, Taylor Fietterer, & Spence Bonner
      • Located in Meeting Room 1A/1B
      • Join us for this interactive session where we discuss how we used social media to challenge our student population to engage in wellness activities that can help achieve their personal wellness goals. Originating from our Divisional adopted Student Wellness Plan, we created 8 different themed weeks focusing on various topics, all interweaving social media to increase participation and engagement We’ll also share one example of an assessment tool we utilized that measured student learning. Then, you’ll have the chance to develop your own Social Media Wellness Challenge.
    • Get Those Pantsuits Ready: Being A Lady Leader
      • Presentation by Katie Birdsall

      • The dynamics of men and women in leadership roles are very different- the biggest difference being men are often trained and mentored to be leaders, while ladies sometimes need to work harder to get out of their way. The presenter will share some of their personal experiences about moving into leadership positions, as well as give some insight from the literature that they have read that has helped them in their roles. Great presentation for lady leaders, and the men who work with and supervise them!
