For students who completed 6th – 7th grade Academic Year 2019 – 2020The theme for Owl Camp is “Quests” - Asking Questions and Pursuing Answers.

Activities and topics will include:

  • Developing a research project (Based on some of our major camp themes: Wetlands, Woodlands, Savannas, Prairies, Birds, Mammals, Reptiles, Amphibians, Archaeology, and Survival)
  • Carrying out field research
  • Organizing a presentation on research findings
  • Presenting findings to younger campers
  • Mini explorations to unique natural areas in Eastern Iowa
  • Tent camping out at Macbride Nature Recreation Area - Food Provided (Thursday Night)
  • Swimming at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center, Rec Pool or Coralville Rec Center - Food Provided Friday

Fee: $265 (per offering)


We're excited that there are two scholarship opportunities available through E.B. Green and United Way. Thank you to these organizations for providing support to children to attend camp! If your child receives a scholarship, please register by calling Jeanette Luke at (319) 335-9293.


Registration opens Monday, March 2nd, 2019

Registration is online only! Internet Explorer does NOT work with our registration portal. Please use Chrome or Firefox. You must have an online account with us to register. If you do not have an account, we recommend setting up an account PRIOR to registration opening.

Here's what you need to know:

  • You can sign up for an account at any time. Learn how to set up an account and how to register here. If you do not have an account, you can either create an account here or call 319-335-9293. Important: Once your account is set up, you'll need to add your child as a "dependent" on your account
  • If you are familiar with our online registration process, click the "Register" button below.



  • The majority of time will be spent at the Macbride Nature Recreation Area. Some field trips may be taken to other local natural areas.
  • We reserve the right to relocate camps as needed.
  • Depending on the activity and weather, we will use the following locations:

Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex - HTRC 

Macbride Nature Recreation Area - MNRA 

Campus Recreation & Wellness Center - CRWC

  • Unless otherwise noted, drop-off is between 7:45 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. at the Hawkeye Recreation Fields. The buses leave at 8:30 a.m.
  • Pick-up is between 4:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. at the same location.
  • We offer a Late Stay Program for campers from 4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. at the Hawkeye Recreation Fields for an additional fee. 
    (Five day camps - $35) When signing up for the camps, add the late stay to your cart for each week you need it. If you are unsure, you can always add it later if you find you need to.
  • There is an option to drop-off and pick-up at the Macbride Nature Recreation Area. Drop-off at this site is between 8:15 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and pick up is between 3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. at the Archery Pavilion (second left after you enter the Macbride Nature Recreation Area).


  • All refunded registrations are charged an administrative processing fee ($75.00).
  • A refund will be issued if canceling 4 weeks prior to the start of the camp offering you're attending. 
  • Refunds will not be issued for no-shows.  

  • If you need to cancel, please call Jeanette Luke at (319) 335-9293 and complete the online refund request form.
  • The Director reserves the right to dismiss any camper whose choices or conduct becomes detrimental to the program, other participants or themselves. No refunds will be made for dismissed campers.

We understand that a medical issue or unplanned emergency may cause a camper the inability to attend camp. 

  • Please call Jeanette Luke at (319) 335-9293 and complete the online refund request form.
  • A refund may be requested minus the non-refundable ($75.00) processing fee per camp session for each participant not attending.
  • If a camper is able and there is time and room, an attempt will be made to switch the camper to a different session.
