Information for parents | Recreational Services

Thank you for choosing to participate in UI Wildlife Camps this summer! We are looking forward to an adventurous summer that will include fun, hands-on investigations within all our ecosystems at Macbride Nature Recreation Area (MNRA). We will learn the science of nature while still experiencing the best of recreation. Below you'll find all the information you'll need to know for your campers to have a successful experience with us!

Pro-rated refunds will be granted if we are notified at least three weeks in advance of the date your child is attending camp. Exceptions include family emergency or medical personnel recommend your child does not participate due to health reasons (a physician's note is required). Our online refund request form must be submitted for cancelations.

What to wear

Because we spend all, if not most, of our time in the outdoors you should come prepared for sun, rain and everything nature may bring. We recommend either wearing or bringing:

  • T-shirts verses tank tops to prevent sunburned shoulders.
  • raincoat or poncho. Camp goes on, even in the rain. Programs will move inside when necessary during storm watches and warnings.
  • Proper shoes are important! This could be a pair of tennis shoes, hiking boots or sandals that stay on feet snugly and are designed for hiking and exploring outside.
  • Winged Warrior campers will swim on Fridays - please pack a suit and towel.

What to bring

  • Full water bottle. Additional water will be provided
  • Lunch. We’ve seen some progress in the reduction of non-recyclable waste generated at lunchtime. We would love to see this continue. If possible, avoid over-packaged products and bring reusable containers. We will follow a carry-in/carry-out policy.
