2017 Tennis Doubles Participant Guide

Tennis Sport Rules
Make sure you know the rules for Intramural Tennis. The complete Tennis rules can be found here. Also be sure to check out the information form here for important sport information.

Only University of Iowa students, faculty, staff and affiliates that have purchased an Intramural Sports membership may participate in Intramural Tennis. To learn how to purchase a membership, click here. Team captains must make sure that all members of their teams are eligible. Intramural Sports Eligibility rules and regulations can be found here.

Play-By Format
Tennis Doubles uses a “Play-by” format for competition. This format allows participants to schedule matches at times that work for them. More information on Play-by tournaments can be found here.

Teams that do not play a match and report the score to the Intramural Sports staff by the stated deadline will be assessed a $25.00 forfeit fine. This fine will be charged to the team captain’s U-Bill.
Registration takes place through Click here for specific instructions on how to register your team, and make sure to pass it along to your teammate so he/she can join your team roster quickly and easily. Once registration is complete, the tournament bracket will be posted on, as well as “Play-by” deadlines. The tournament bracket will be updated online as matches are completed.

Rec*It Mobile App
The official mobile app for has hit The University of Iowa. Click here for specific instructions on how to register your team using Rec*It, and make sure to pass it along to your teammates so they can join your team roster quickly and easily.

Matches will be played at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex

Friday Night Series
Intramural Sports hosts a Friday Night Series of events throughout the year. You can participate in one or all. Click here for more information on the Intramural Sports Friday Night Series.

Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach's Corner
Each year, Intramural Sports crowns Points Champions in Men’s, Women’s, Fraternity, Sorority, and Co-Rec. All you have to do to compete is play multiple Intramural Sports, and keep the same team name throughout all sports. More information on this awesome competition can be found here.

Registration Requirements
To complete your registration, make sure you have the following done by the registration deadline:

  • Name your Entry (Team Name Must be Appropriate). If you are playing for Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach's Corner Points, use your organization name.
  • Get two players on your team roster.
