Important Information

  1. To participate in Intramural Sports, a UI Student, Faculty, Staff or Affiliate must purchase an Intramural Sports Membership. Information on how to purchase a membership can be found here. This $20.00/semester membership allows you to participate in almost any Intramural sport/event that semester. There is no cost to register a team, but team members must purchase the Intramural Sports Membership before joining/creating a team.
  2. There is no limit to the size of a team’s roster, however, a team must have four players (five for Co-Rec; minimum two men and two women) to complete registration.
  3. During registration, the team captain picks a division, which determines the day of the week and the time at which your team will play its regular season games. This cannot be done until the minimum player requirement for the team has been met. 
  4. To be eligible to play that night, team captains may add players to the roster up until the game’s scheduled start time.
  5. Before each game, all players must present a valid UI or government-issued ID to participate.
  6. Teams will field seven players in Men’s Leagues, and eight players in the Co-Rec League. In order to begin a game, five players (3 men and 2 women or 2 men and 3 women for Co-Rec) must be PRESENT within 10 minutes of a team’s schedule game time. If this requirement is not met, the game will be forfeit.
  7. Team sportsmanship will be rated by the officials on a scale of 4-to-1, with 4 being excellent and 1 being poor. Teams must maintain an average of 2.5 or better throughout the season to qualify for the playoffs and to remain in the league. A more detailed breakdown of the sportsmanship scale can be found in the Intramural Sports Rules and Regulations.
  8. Playoffs will take place following the 3-week regular season. All teams will qualify for the Flag Football playoffs. Due to facility constraints, playoff teams will likely not be scheduled at the same day/time as their regular season games.
  9. “A” leagues are for more experienced/skilled players. The teams that win the Men’s A and Co-Rec A playoff tournaments will receive Intramural Champion T-shirts. “B” leagues are for less experienced/more social players. The teams that win the B playoff tournaments will not receive Intramural Champion T-shirts.
  10. Any forfeit/no-show will result in a Forfeit Fine of $50.00. This fine is charged to the University Bill of the team captain.

  12. Teams can compete in the year-long Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach's Corner for a chance to win awesome prizes. For details on the Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach's Corner, click here.
  13. Each competing organization is allowed only one team entry to accumulate points in the Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach's Corner, but there is no maximum on the amount of teams that can register for an organization. The top finishing team for each organization will be counted towards the point total. Teams must designate their organization affiliations before the event begins.
  14. Interested in becoming an official? We work around classes and other conflicts with flexible scheduling, and you can still play Intramural Sports. To find out how to become an official, visit our Becoming an Official webpage!
  15. Want to play but don't have a team? You can join as a Free Agent on IMLeagues.com if you have paid the Intramural Sports Membership Fee, or you can join our Free Agent Group on Facebook to connect with other people looking for more players to form a team. Listing yourself as a Free Agent does not guarantee you will be on a team, although the Intramural Sports Office will help try to facilitate formation of a Free Agent team.

Mandatory Online Captain's Quiz

2017 Season

In order to create a team, add players and select a division, each captain must pass the Captain’s Quiz. The quiz will become available Tuesday, August 22, 2017. The quiz is available by clicking the “Create Team” button on the Flag Football home page on IMLeagues.com.

All captains are encouraged to utilize the Participant Guide, which is available on the Intramural Sports website. Failure to utilize the resources made available to you is not an excuse for not knowing sport or program rules or regulations.

If a team captain fails to complete the Captain’s Quiz, the captain will not be able to register a team. A captain can take the quiz as many times as needed in order to register the team.

Space in each time slot is limited, so please have all items completed promptly.
