KanJam Important Information

  1. To participate in Intramural Sports, a UI Student, Faculty, Staff or Affiliate must purchase an Intramural Sports Membership. This $20.00/semester membership allows you to participate in almost any Intramural sport/event that semester. There is no cost to register a team, but team members must purchase the Intramural Sports Membership before joining/creating a team.
  2. Team rosters must have two players registered to complete registration. Teams may have up to four players on the roster, in case a sub is needed the day of the event. Once two players start the tournament, those two players must finish the tournament as no substitutions are allowed at that time.
  3. Before participating, all players must present a valid UI or government-issued photo ID to participate.
  4. Each team is guaranteed two matches. There will be a consolation bracket, but teams that lose their first round matches will not be able to come through to win the championship like in a double elimination bracket.
  5. Any forfeit/no-show will result in a Forfeit Fine of $25.00. This fine is charged to the University Bill of the team captain.
  6. Matches will be self-officiated. All participants are expected to know the KanJam rules.
  7. Sportsmanship is a priority of the Intramural Sports Program at The University of Iowa. Teams exhibiting poor sportsmanship will be removed from the tournament. More information on sportsmanship can be found in the Intramural Sports Rules and Regulations.
  8. Each competing organization is allowed only two team entries to accumulate points in the Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach's Corner, but there is no maximum on the amount of teams that can register for that organization. If more than two teams per organization are entered, the top two finishing teams will be counted for points. Teams must designate their team/organization affiliations before the event begins. To earn Co-Rec points, a team must compete with one male and one female throughout all Intramural KanJam contests. Teams must compete with all males or all females in order to earn points for men’s and women’s organizations.
  9. Want to work for Intramural Sports? We work around classes and other conflicts with flexible scheduling, and you can still play Intramural Sports. To find out how to become an official, visit our Becoming an Official webpage!
  10. Want to play but don't have a team? You can join as a Free Agent on IMLeagues.com if you have paid the Intramural Sports Membership Fee, or you can join our Free Agent Group on Facebook to connect with other people looking for more players to form a team. Listing yourself as a Free Agent does not guarantee you will be on a team, although the Intramural Sports Office will help try to facilitate formation of a Free Agent team.
