IMLeagues Registration Instructions

Important Information

  1. To participate in Intramural Sports, a UI Student, Faculty, Staff or Affiliate must purchase an Intramural Sports Membership. Information on how to purchase a membership can be found here. This $20.00/semester membership allows you to participate in almost any Intramural sport/event that semester. There is no cost to register a team, but team members must purchase the Intramural Sports Membership before joining/creating a team.
  2. Team rosters must have two players registered to complete registration. Players can be switched following registration, but teams must follow the correct Roster Addition/Removal Procedures.
  3. Before the start of the tournament, each player must present a valid UI or government-issued photo ID to participate.
  4. A game is won when a team reaches 21 points, but a team must win by at least two points. To win, a team does not need to land on exactly 21 points, going over 21 will still win the game. All matches will be best 2-out-of-3 games.
  5. Points are scored by landing a bean bag on the board or in the hole. A bag landing in the hole is worth 3 points and a bag landing on the board is worth 1 point. Cancellation scoring will be used.
  6. Any forfeit/no-show will result in a Forfeit Fine of $25.00. This fine is charged to the University Bill of the captain.
  7. All other rules will be governed by the American Cornhole Organization Rulebook. University of Iowa-specific rules can be found by clicking the "Rules" link at the top of the page.
  8. Teams can compete in the year-long Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach's Corner for a chance to win awesome prizes. For details on the Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach's Corner, click here.
  9. Each competing organization is allowed only entries to accumulate points in the Intramural Sports Points Championship presented by Coach’s Corner, but there is no maximum on the amount of participants that can register for an organization. The top two finishers for each organization will be counted towards the point total. Individuals must designate their team affiliations before the event begins.
  10. In order to receive Co-Rec points for the Intramural Sports Points Championship sponsored by Coach's Corner, teams must have one male and one female signed-in and participating throughout the event.
  11. Want to work for Intramural Sports? We work around classes and other conflicts with flexible scheduling, and you can still play Intramural Sports. To find out how to become an official, visit our Becoming an Official webpage!
  12. Want to play but don't have a team? You can join as a Free Agent on IMLeagues.com if you have paid the Intramural Sports Membership Fee, or you can join our Free Agent Group on Facebook to connect with other people looking for more players to form a team. Listing yourself as a Free Agent does not guarantee you will be on a team, although the Intramural Sports Office will help try to facilitate formation of a Free Agent team.
