Mastering the Foundations of Yoga

The mission of this workshop is to provide hands-on and broken down training of the foundations of yoga in order to strengthen and progress your practice. We will focus on body alignment, head to toe engagement, smooth transitions, and hands-on adjustments. This series will be divided up into four sessions, each lasting 45 minutes. 


Each session will be held from 12:05 p.m. - 12:50 p.m. in the Field House Activity room 215.

Friday, July 12: Sun Salutations 

  • An introduction and breakdown to the postures involved in Sun Salutations A, B, and C.
  • Mountain Pose, Forward Fold, Half Lift in Forward Fold, Chaturanga, Up Dog/Cobra, Warrior I, Crescent Lunge, High Lunge, Plank, Chair

Friday, July 19: Warrior Series

  • Warm up with Sun Salutations and go into Warriors and their variations.
  • Warrior I, Warrior II, Extended Side Angle, Reverse Warrior, Triangle, Half Moon, Wide-leg Forward Fold

Friday, July 26: Revolved Postures and Standing Balances

  • Warm up with Sun Salutations and Dancing Warrior Flow.
  • Pyramid, Revolved Triangle, Revolved Half Moon, Standing Splits, Eagle, Tree, Dancer's Pose

Friday, August 2: Backbends

  • Warm up with flowing vinyasa combining things learned in the first three weeks.
  • Lotus, Floor Bow, Standing Backbend, Camel, Wheel
