In this single-day event, you will be given two opportunities in each of the three power lifts: Squat, Bench Press, and Dead Lift. The Wilks Coefficient will be used to calculate absolute power, and the male and female deemed most powerful will be declared Intramural Champions and will win an Intramural Champion T-shirt! Registration for this event is FREE, so get down to the first floor weight area of the CRWC on Thursday, February 25 and prove you are The University of Iowa’s strongest!

Important Information

  1. Check the Intramural Rules and Regulations in regards to eligibility.
  2. Before the event, all participants that pre-registered online must check-in using a valid UI or state-issued photo ID. Anyone that wishes to register on-site must do so with a valid UI or state-issued photo ID.
  3. Participants will register for a designated lifting time, 6:00 PM or 7:30 PM. Prior to participating, each participant will be required to be briefed on lifts that will be counted versus those that will not count.
  4. The competition will include three power lifts (in this order): Squat, Bench Press, and Dead Lift.
  5. While registering or checking-in, each participant will be weighed for exact body weight, and will give his/her desired starting lift weights. He/she will then have the opportunity to achieve a maximum weight for each lift. Once completed, the Wilks Coefficient will be used to determine absolute strength, and a male and female winner will be determined.
  6. Each competing organization is allowed two entries to accumulate points in the Coach’s Corner Intramural Sports Points Championship, but there is no maximum on the amount that can register. The top two entries for each organization will count towards the point total. Individuals must designate their team affiliations before the event begins.
  7. All rules and regulations can be found on the Intramural Sports website here.
