Important Information

  1. To participate in Intramural Sports, a UI Student, Faculty, Staff or Affiliate must purchase an Intramural Sports Membership. This $20.00/semester membership allows you to participate in almost any Intramural sport/event that semester. There is no cost to register a team, but team members must purchase the Intramural Sports Membership before joining/creating a team. Directions on how to purchase an Intramural Sports Membership can be found here.
  2. There is no limit to the size of a team’s roster. However, a team must have six players to complete registration. A team may add players to its roster up until the start of the event.
  3. The duration of the game is 24 minutes, 2 periods of 12 minutes, with a 5-minute half-time.
  4. Before each game, all players must present a valid UI or government-issued photo ID to participate.
  5. Fouls will be called by the officials. No player shall hold the ball in the goalkeeper area for more than five seconds. No offensive player is permitted in the penalty area. A free toss is awarded after any rule infraction or personal foul.
  6. The defense may contact the offensive player's tube if that offensive player has the ball. The ball may be separated from the offensive player by either grabbing the ball away or by tipping the offensive player out of his/her tube.
  7. Team sportsmanship will be rated by the officials on a scale of 1-to-4, with 4 being excellent and 1 being poor. Teams must maintain an average of a 2.5 rating or better to remain in the tournament. A more detailed breakdown of the sportsmanship scale can be found in the Intramural Sports Rules and Regulations.
  8. Any forfeit/no-show will result in a Forfeit Fine of $50.00. This fine is charged to the University Bill of the team captain.
  9. In order to receive Co-Rec points for the Coach’s Corner Intramural Sports Points Championship, teams must have at least three men and three women signed-in and participating at all times in the event.
