Position: Personal Trainer/ Group Fitness Instructor

Year/Major: Senior, BA. Health and Human Physiology

Hometown: Ankeny, Iowa

How long have you been working here?: March of 2016

What have you learned from working here?: I have learned the importance of working with a team that holds a common goal. Having that common goal makes everyone passionate about their job. You can never stop learning and the team I am apart of has shown how important learning is.

Something interesting about yourself: I use to play basketball in college while studying business for about 2-3 years. I did a really boring business internship and realized It was time to change my major to something more interactive.

What do you do in your spare time?: In my spare time, I like to spend time with friends. I just started playing intramurals again for basketball with some fellow employees. I enjoy anything that keeps me active.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about working as a Personal Trainer?: I wish people knew how rewarding it can be to work as a personal trainer. You are able to build great relationships with such a diverse group of people., and you are able to watch those people accomplish things they never thought they could.

What are your plans after graduation?: I have been accepted to graduate school at a couple different places, so just need to decide. I love learning about the human body and how it works. I will either study athletic training, neurobiology, or human physiology.

If you could eat any food for the rest of your life without any health consequences, what would it be?: I would for sure eat Hu Hot’s egg rolls every day twice a day. They are pretty bomb.

What Nick's supervisor has to say about him: Nick paves the way in new age, member-centric dedication for all fitness programs he works with.  He always, in all ways, strives to improve every situation, not just for himself, but the members he serves and colleagues he works with.  He has proven to be a very effective group fitness instructor, personal trainer, and leader because he applies teamwork, comradery, social facilitation, and fun into everything he does.  His scope of fitness is very broad for an individual his age, but what is more important is his ability to deliver these experiences to anyone!  What I respect most about Nick, is his “Grind”!  Nick is always busy doing something, however, every opportunity for him is a learning opportunity. I truly respect this young man and amazing coach!- Matthew Stancel
