Position: Field House Facility Supervisor

Year/Major: I am currently a senior here at the University of Iowa and I am majoring in Health and Human Physiology and I am also minoring in Psychology.

Hometown: Like almost half of this campus, I am from the suburbs of Chicago, more specifically I am from Bridgeview, IL.

How long have you worked for us?: The year will be my third year working for Recreational Services.

What have you learned from working here?: Working here at the Field House has taught me how to use my resources and it has also helped me to develop networking skills. Charles Thomas, my supervisor, has helped me greatly throughout these past three years, but people such as Caleb, Mike Valentine, and Mallory Valentine have also helped me a ton too. The Recreational Services staff want to help you, you don't necessarily have to work for someone directly in order to receive that help, it's a matter of simply reaching out and asking for a hand.

What is something interesting about yourself?: I'm running my first half marathon this upcoming September!

What do you like to do in your free time?: In my spare time, I like to run. I don't necessarily enjoy running, but I like to participate in activities that challenge me.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about working in your position?: I wish everyone knew that the Field House is much more than an academic building or simply another facility to work out in. The Field House, to many of my patrons, is a second home. The Field House holds many stories and continues to create new ones day by day. I'm actually very sad that this spring will be my last semester working in the Field House.  Also, fun fact, the fourth floor of the Field House has an endless amount of racquetball courts. I feel like every time I walk up there, I seem to discover a new room.

Do you have any plans for after graduation?: After graduation, I plan to further my education and attend an entry level doctorate program for Occupational Therapy. I haven't decided exactly where I'm going to school yet, but wherever I end up, I know it's going to be great!

If you could eat any food every day for the rest of your life, without any health consequences, what would it be?: I dread this question, I have like five different favorite foods, but if I had to choose one, it would have to be a steak. A big juicy rib-eye stake served with a side of mashed potatoes
