Position: Head Lifeguard

Year/Major: Senior Health and Human Physiology: Exercise Science

Hometown: Coralville, IA.

How long have you worked for us?: 4 years

What have you learned from working here?: How to manage my time wisely

Something interesting about yourself: I thought I was applying for the membership position and accidently applied for the Lifeguard position instead (turns out this was the right way to go ;) )

What do you do in your spare time?: I like to go fishing and hang out with my family and friends

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about working as a Head Lifeguard?: As a head guard, one thing that people should know is we put a lot of time in here at the Rec. With opening and closing every week and working weekends, this place is pretty much our second home.

What are your plans for after graduation?: I am planning on going to a masters program at Grand View University in Des Moines and hopefully get into Physical Therapy school after that.

If you could eat any food every day for the rest of your life without any health consequences, what would it be?: Ranch Dressing. I would have it pumped through my veins by an IV.

What Josh's Supervisor has to say about him: Josh started as a Lifeguard with Recreational Services in Fall of 2013 and was recently promoted to Head Lifeguard this past Summer. He is a very responsible employee that knows the ins and outs of the pool without hesitation. Since transitioning to a Head Lifeguard, he has taken on the responsibilities and leadership in stride and has really assisted our program in being more successful and organized behind the scenes. Josh is always willing to help out and is a great asset to our Aquatic Staff. He will be greatly missed upon graduation this Spring! Thanks Josh!
