Jose T. | Recreational Services
The University of Iowa

Position: Facility Supervisor

Year/Major: Junior, Computer Science

Hometown: Marshalltown, Iowa

How long have you worked for Rec Services?: Since the fall of 2018

What have you learned from working here?: Patience, problem solving, and communication.

What is something interesting about yourself?: I've traveled to almost all of the Western European Countries, but I've only traveled and visited two other states in the U.S. (Minnesota and Illinois).

What do you like to do in your spare time?: I like to watch soccer especially La Liga. I also like to follow Formula 1. When I'm not watching a game or a race then I enjoy my free time by either weightlifting or working on a personal project.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about working in your position?: The professional staff are more than willing to help you succeed either in your education or career goals by providing any necessary resources available or just offering advice. Also, the staff I work with are a great group of people that are fun to be around.

If you could eat any food every day for the rest of your life, without any health consequences, what would it be?: That's a tough choice, but it'd be between New York cheesecake, green grapes, or my moms pupusas (a hispanic dish).

What Jose's Supervisor Said About Him: Jose takes great initiative while he is on the job. He has thorough knowledge of policies/procedures, is very willing to pick up others’ shifts, and is always willing to assist with anything I ask of him.

*Jose was nominated for Faces of RecServ in Fall 2019.
