Positions: Lifetime Leisure Skills Course Assistant, Climbing Wall Attendant, Wildlife Camps and School of the Wild Instructor

Year/Major: Senior, B.S. Science Education and Sustainability Certificate

Hometown: Right here. Iowa City, IA.

How long have you worked for us?: My first job with Rec Services was as a Wildlife Camps Instructor almost 4 years ago.

What have you learned from working here?: I have learned to always come to work with positive energy. No matter how my day is going I try to show up to work ready to contribute excitement and energy.

What is something interesting about yourself?: I have spent 23 consecutive days living outside and backpacking.

What do you like to do in your spare time?: I like to be outside, climbing, running, teaching, eating, sleeping. Everything is better outside!

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about working in your position?: In my positions I don't just serve the University of Iowa community, but also the Iowa City community. From the kids at our camps to the climbers at our climbing wall people from all over town and all parts of life participate in our programs. Working for Recreational Services means being part of a strong and diverse community.

Do you have any plans after graduation?: I wish. I don't have any specific plans yet but I hope to continue to give young people the opportunity to understand and appreciate their environment. Not all communities have amazing environmental education programs like those provided through our Outdoor Recreation and Education programs. I hope to give more kids the opportunity to learn outside early in their academic careers.

If you could eat any food every day for the rest of your life without any health consequences, what would it be?: Coffee Ice Cream.
