Christina has been working for Rec Services for four(!) years! We are so lucky to have her on our team through her time at the University of Iowa. We'll miss her when she graduates! Thanks for your hard work and infectious positive attitude the past four years, Christina!

Position: Swim Lesson Coordinator

Year: I am a Senior graduating in May, studying Human Physiology with a minor in Psychology.

Hometown: Bolingbrook, Illinois

How long have you worked for us? This would be my 4th year! I first worked as a swim instructor for 3 years and this is my first year as a swim lesson coordinator.

Favorite part of working for RecServ: I really enjoy all the staff members! Everyone is so nice and great to work with. I have met many people from different backgrounds and its great to connect with such a variety of people.

What have you learned from working at RecServ: Quick problem solving, how to communicate better with customers, as well as employees.

Tell us a little bit about what you do as a swim lesson coordinator: We do a variety of things! With our swim instructors we plan out their schedules, communicate to them on a weekly basis on certain events or private lessons that need to be taken. We set up equipment and deal with any questions with the swim lesson program as well as communicate with parents directly about any concerns they may have. We oversee swim lessons and make sure nothing goes wrong.

Something interesting about yourself: I am the first generation in my family to be born in the United States as well as go to college.

What do you do in your spare time? I like to work out, volunteer at the hospital, shopping, and a lot of Netflix.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about working as a swim lesson coordinator? It is a great position that gives you a little glimpse of what dealing with customers, patients, or employees in the real world would be like. I think working as a swim lesson coordinator has helped me develop better communication skills.

Any plans/thoughts on what you’ll do after you graduate? I hope to get into Graduate School for Physical Therapy and hopefully have my own practice.

If you could eat any food every day for the rest of your life without any health consequences, what would it be?  Dessert- anything that is sweet and covered in chocolate!

What her supervisor has to say about her: Christina has been a great asset to our staff over her four years with us; parents and children alike have always said only the best things about her. I would even venture to guess that a few of our swim lesson parents were pretty bummed that she got promoted to oversee staff instead of teach their children! I truly wish I could determine how many children and adults Christina has taught how to swim because that would be quite a large number-she has really made an impact on our program and most certainly our swimming community! Thanks Christina! - Allison Hursh, assistant director - Aquatics
