Cesar has been in the Rec Services family for almost two years and works for us as a head lifeguard. Thanks for all you do, Cesar!

Position: Head lifeguard

Year/Major: I am a Junior, majoring in Primary Education and Disability Studies.

Hometown: Aurora, Illinois

How long have you worked for us?: I have been working for Rec Serv since Fall Semester 2014. Almost 2 years!

Favorite part of working for Rec Services: Working with all the other lifeguards and head guards! I know I will always expect a good laugh and great time for every shift I work!

What have you learned from working here?: I've learned a lot from working here. I've learned time management, responsibility, and more importantly, communication.

Something interesting about yourself: One time, I ate two whole pizzas by myself.

What do you in your spare time?: Run outside!

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about working as a head guard?: I wish people knew how much experience you will get when you become a head guard. This job honestly teaches you many things including responsibility and communication skills which you can later use in the future.

Why did you decide to become a lifeguard?: I became a lifeguard at age 16. I decided to become a lifeguard because I needed money and a job. I eventually figured out that I love helping others and being around a pool.

Any plans/thoughts on what you’ll do after you graduate?: I plan to do the program "Teach for America." After that, I plan to return to school and continue on with my disability studies. Hopefully work at a hospital for disabilities in the future.

If you could eat any food every day for the rest of your life without any health consequences, what would it be?: Could I just eat all the foods and not have any health consequences? Pizza or Chipotle... too hard to decide.

What Cesar's supervisor has to say about him: Cesar has consistently set the bar high for the rest of our Aquatic Staff since he started working for us in the Fall of 2014. He always goes out of his way to help out in any way he can, he goes above and beyond what is asked of him, and he always has a positive attitude. He has contributed immensely to the success of our aquatics program as both a Lifeguard and a Head Lifeguard. We truly value the time, hard work and dedication Cesar has put forth as a member of our Recreational Services Staff, we are so lucky to have such a great person working with us every day. Thanks for all you do, Cesar! - Allison Hursh
