Supervisors: Assistant Director, Sport Programs

Rate of Pay: $10.00/hour (starting wage)


To supervise and assist in the administration of the Intramural Sports and Sport Club programs. During event supervision, supervisors enforce policies, uphold standards of safety, as well as respond to injuries and resolve conflicts as they arise. Additionally, supervisors will assist with the administrative aspects to contribute to the success of each sport club and intramural activity.


  • Communicate and consistently enforce university, departmental, Intramural Sports and Sport Club policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the operation of Intramural Sports and Sport Club events.
  • Respond to all emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc).
  • Handle questions, concerns, and complaints of participants.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and assist with training of Intramural Sports officials.
  • Officiate and keep score for Intramural Sports events, as needed.
  • Provide support for special projects or events, as needed.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Work cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
  • Verify club rosters for practices, competitions, and trips.
  • Establish and maintain office hours as designated by the Sport Programs staff.
  • Perform other work as assigned.


  • Currently enrolled student at the University of Iowa.
  • Previous experience as a Recreational Services employee or involvement in a Sport Club in a leadership capacity.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations.
  • Must be responsible and have strong communication, supervisory, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Mandatory attendance at required office hours and meetings.
  • Ability to use independent judgment when needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to accommodate a work schedule that includes evenings and weekends.

Training/Certification Requirements

  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED or willingness to obtain.
  • Complete Bloodborne Pathogens Training
  • FERPA Training
  • Campus Security Authority Training
