Location:  Macbride Nature Recreation Area (MNRA)

Supervisors: Assistant Director for School of the Wild

Pay Range:  $10.00/hour (starting wage)


To assist with the operations of the UI School of the Wild Program at Macbride Nature Recreation Area.


  • Designing environmentally-based activities for daily groups participating in School of the Wild.
  • Assisting coordinator with managing the care and safety of the students participating in camps.
  • Arrive at School of the Wild check-in punctually and leave upon assistant director’s discretion at the end of each day.
  • Self-motivated, energetic and willingness to be flexible in duties and interactions with students.  Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Focusing on working as a team with other instructors, the coordinator, and bus driver(s).
  • Good communication skills when meeting with students, parents/guardians, co-workers and supervisors.


  • Previous leadership positions with youth as well as interest in the natural world.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Teaching license &/or experience preferred.

Training/Certification Requirements

  • Completion of Criminal Background Check.
  • Certification of First Aid, CPR/AED or willingness to obtain.
  • Complete Bloodborne Pathogens Training.
