Location: All Recreational Services facilities

Supervisor:  Associate Director for Safety & Risk Management 

Rate of Pay: $9.10/hour 

Function: To evaluate the student staff knowledge on the activation of the Recreational Services Emergency Preparedness Plan and hard skills regarding the application of First Aid, CPR and AED use. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with Recreational Services professional staff to schedule audits during work shifts. 
  • Conduct Emergency Preparedness Audits based upon standards set by the Recreational Services Risk Management Committee. 
  • Provide feedback to individuals regarding their performance during the audit process. 
  • Complete audit forms and provide written summaries of audits to the Safety & Risk Manager. 
  • Conduct regular remedial training courses. 
  • Assist with instruction of HeartSaver First Aid, CPR and AED courses as required. 
  • Ensure outstanding customer service. 
  • Work cooperatively with other area of the department to achieve established goals. 
  • Performs other work as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Service requirements. 
  • Experience working in a leadership role and comfortable working without direct supervision. 
  • Experience exercising independent judgment. 
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills. 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 
  • Must be able to work independently. 
  • Ability to work early morning, evening and weekend hours. 
  • Previous recreational services experience is desirable. 

Training/certification requirements

  • American Heart Association HeartSaver Instructor certification, or equivalent, or ability to obtain upon hire.
