Pay Range:  $8.30/hour (starting wage)

Function

Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding of student employees.  

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary interviews of potential employees, arrange for interviews, and process all associated paperwork and spreadsheet maintenance within established guidelines.
  • Assist with employment paperwork, including completion of I-9’s, data collection form and explanation of training requirements and next steps for employees to complete employment requirements.
  • Perform timely follow-up with supervisors to ensure open communication regarding hiring needs, outcome of interviews and address any other needs they may have.
  • Advertise and maintain current job openings by posting and updating as needed and tracking such changes in our systems.
  • Respond daily to applicants who are seeking employment with us by responding appropriately to emails and saving their materials.
  • Assist with scanning documents for distribution including payroll and other documentation.
  • Assist with preparing labels for file maintenance, and other clerical tasks.
  • Represent UI Recreational Services by participating in recruitment activities as needed.
  • Exhibit behavior and appearance expected of a professional and respect confidential information.

Qualifications

  • Registered UI student preferably enrolled in Human Resources/Business. 
  • Must be able to make a one year commitment (April/May 2016 – May 2017), preferably blocks of time Monday-Friday between 8am and 5pm. 
  • Must be in sophomore standing or above (completed at least 12 semester hours of college course work)
  • Demonstrated professionalism, organization and communication/customer service skills necessary. 
  • Experience with computer systems, preferably Microsoft Office. 
  • Previous experience in an office or related work environment. 
  • Experience in a leadership capacity is desirable.
