Facility Supervisor - HTRC | Recreational Services

Location:         Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex (HTRC)

Supervisors:     Assistant Director, Facility Operations

Rate of Pay:     $9.60/hour (starting wage)


To assist in the day to day management of the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex, including the Iowa Turf, for the benefit of the members and the university community.  This position requires a mature individual with good communication and leadership skills.  


• Enforces facility policies and procedures (Accessibility Issues, Rules of Activity).
• Carries out security measures (Proper Opening and Closing Duties, Accountability for Building Keys, Money Handling, etc…).
• Responds to all building emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc…).
• Assist in the training, supervision and evaluation of Membership Services Attendants
• Executes the set-up of activity areas for variety of internal & external groups (Includes Meeting Rooms, Classrooms, etc…).|
• Provides support for special events, as needed.
• Ensure outstanding customer service.
• Works cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
• Promotes a safe, clean, functional and marketable facility.
• Performs other work as assigned.


• Outstanding customer service skills; competent computer and audio-visual skills.
• Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations.
• Mandatory attendance at training meetings.
• Ability to use independent judgment when needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays & breaks.  Weekends include working 2 football game per season. 
• At least one year of experience working at Recreational Services is preferred

Training/Certification Requirements

  • Certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED or ability to obtain.
  • Complete FERPA, Credit Card, Security Awareness, Cash Handling and Bloodborne Pathogens Training.
