March 18-22, 2019 l 1st - 6th grade

Spend spring break week with UI Wildlife Camps learning, exploring, and growing! Our theme this year is Biodiversity Adventures. Camp activities, games and discussions this year will revolve around the following topics: Natural History of Northern Goshawks, bird calls and nests, "rabbitats," animal tracking, scavenger hunts, fossils & rocks, wilderness survival/shelter building, pond study, migrating waterfowl, bird banding, swimming at the rec pool, yoga & climbing at the CRWC, plants and entomology of the prairie, and nature mapping. 1st – 3rd graders will be grouped together as will the 4th – 6th grade participants. If a camper wants to join another camper in a different grade grouping, please let staff know on the first day and we will accommodate that request.

Registration

Registration opens February 4.

Registration is online onlyInternet Explorer does NOT work with our registration portal. Please use Chrome or Firefox. You must have an online account with us to register. If you do not have an account, we recommend setting up an account PRIOR to registration opening.

Here's what you need to know:

  • In order to complete a camp registration the camper must be added as a dependent when setting up an online account.
  • If you are a staff, faculty, or student, you already have an account - just use your Hawk ID and password.
  • If you've already created an account as a member of Rec Services, you've signed up for Wildlife Camps before, or for other programs (swim lessons, fitness classes, etc.), you are all ready to go when registration opens! 
  • We recommend signing in prior to camp registration opening to insure your account is up to date.
  • You can sign up for an account at any time. Learn how to set up an account and how to register here. If you have questions please call 319-335-9293 or stop by the CRWC or Field House Member Services desk. 
  • When registering, select "Spring 2019" to see camps.
  • Camp fees must be paid in full at time of registration. 
  • The forms of payment accepted are credit and debit cards.
  • If you are familiar with our online registration process, head right to our online portal to sign in and register.

Location

 

Goshawk Camp will utilize Macbride Nature Recreation Area (and other local natural areas), the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex, and the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center for yoga, climbing and swimming, which will all be warm and have restrooms available to us.

We reserve the right to change locations of the camps per our discretion.

Check in is between 7:45-8:20am at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. The buses leaves at 8:30am.

Pick up is between 4:00-4:15pm at the same location.

Refunds

  • Families will receive a refund minus the non-refundable processing fee ($75.00) if canceling prior to Monday, February 25th, 2019.
  • Refunds will not be issued for no-shows.
  • If you need to cancel, please call Jeanette Luke at 319-335-9294 and complete the online refund request form.
  • The Director reserves the right to dismiss any camper whose choices or conduct becomes detrimental to the program, other participants or themselves. No refunds will be made for dismissed campers.

We understand that a medical issue or unplanned emergency may cause a camper the inability to attend camp. 

  • Please call Jeanette Luke at 319-335-9294 and complete the online refund request form.
  • A refund may be requested minus the non-refundable ($75.00) processing fee per camp session for each participant not attending.
  • If a camper is able and there is time and room, an attempt will be made to switch the camper to a different session. (This only applies to summer and winter camps).
