The Iowa Dive Club is registered with both US Diving and the AAU and operated by the University of Iowa Recreational Services. Participation is available for all Rec Services Members and the general public, offering developmental programs for all skill levels, beginner to elite. The mission of the Iowa Dive Club is to build a thriving hub for recreational and competitive diving in Eastern Iowa.
Learn-to-Dive Developmental Lessons Program
The lessons program offers a fun introduction to the sport of diving. Participants learn fundamental skills for safety and gain a foundation for success in the sport. Lessons use both dry-land and water training to develop core strength, flexibility, coordination, body awareness, acrobatic control and balance.
The Basic Lessons Program meets once per week for seventy five minutes, offered monthly.
The Accelerated Lessons Program meets twice per week for seventy five minutes, offered monthly.
Rec Team
The Rec Team is for divers who have mastered the basic skills taught in the lessons program and want to learn more. These athletes enjoy casual practices as they work towards competitive diving at the AAU, USD, High School, and Masters levels. To be eligible, athletes must have strong fundamental diving skills and a positive attitude.
Although competing is not mandatory for the Rec Team, Divers will learn a competitive dive list on the one-meter spring board and will be encouraged to learn dives on the three-meter springboard. The Rec Team will make full use of the CRWC’s facilities, utilizing the spotting belts over the dry-board and bubbler system.
The Rec Team practices three times a week, Tuesday through Thursday, for ninety minutes.
JO Team
The JO Team is for divers that have demonstrated talent, commitment, and strong mechanics in all aspects of their training. These divers are committed to reaching the next level and aspire to dive in college and beyond. This team is focused on competing at the JO regional, zone, and national levels.
The JO Team regularly uses all of the available facilities with the lowest athlete to coach ratios. These divers will learn a competitive dive list for both the one and three meter springboards, and will learn some platform drills and dives.
JO Team divers travel to USA Diving meets several times each year with the Iowa Dive Club and train more than nine months out of the year.
The JO Team practices four to five times per week, Monday through Thursday and Saturday. Although all JO Divers should try to attend all five practices, they may select four of the five works if they have a conflict.
